Weekly Story

I'll be posting parts of stories/novels I am writing at the moment here. Check back every friday for a new one.

This week's story:

Rayne stood in the dark room silently. She looked out the window seeing the city lights and hearing the sounds of cars and people and animals. Every sound amplified in the silence of the room. She wore a loose black dress that ended above her knees. The loose straps that were more like fabric sewn on to a strapless dress, rested on her upper arms. Her high heeled boots made no sound as she paced around the room. Looped around her torso and shoulder was a chain. On each end rested a star shape, sharper than a knife.

A quick rush of air caused Rayne to stop and listen to the darkness of the room. She pulled the chain from around her body and it responded as if it were a living creature caressing her body as it unwound. For a moment nothing happened.

Then the room exploded as figures from every direction attacked. Rayne lashed the chain out at her nearest attacker and it landed in his head. She yanked it out and flew the other end at another one. She leaped into the air just as the blade stuck in the man’s chest. She landed behind another attacker. She pulled a blade out from its sheath in her boot and stabbed it into her chest. She let go of the dagger and ran around another with the chain still in her hand. She ran around them until they were all encompassed in the chain. She pulled tight and heard their groans as it cut tighter. She stuck the blade into the last one’s head and blood spurted out. Some hit her face and her chest. It got all over her hands. She pulled out the katana that had been strapped to her side. With one fluid motion, she jumped into the air and ended all of their lives quickly and as painlessly as she could.

When it was all done and she had taken back the chain another figure stood behind her clapping his hands. She turned and readied herself for another battle. He removed his sword from his waist and attacked. The man and sword blurred as they moved and only came into focus again when the sword was right above her face.
